December 9, 2012


On a day good for only flying IFR, Chapter 922 met at AXV for
their December meeting. President Todd Bills, called the meeting to
order with six members (Marc Hines, Richard Murray, Neil Winget,
Todd Bills, Ken Boyd and Gene Will) and two guests (Tina Strobel and
Ann Vogel) present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read
and approved. Gene reported a balance of $214.26 in the treasury.
Members were reminded that dues ($25) are being collected.
Old Business: The winter dinner meeting was discussed. Neil
said to rent the museum at WPAFB, the cost would be $2000. Richard
said we could go to the museum for free and eat at the officers club with
a cost of $20 to $30 per person. Richard then suggested going to the
WACO museum in Troy. The person in charge of the museum said we
tour the displays and then they would cater a light meal (pulled pork
sandwich plus a couple of side dishes) for $15 per person. Ken and Neil
moved and seconded the motion that the chapter visits the WACO
museum this year. The secretary will send out notices with members
responding as to how many will be attending. This will take place on
Sunday, February 10, 2013, and will in place of the regular meeting.
Spouses are invited to attend also. EAA Chapter 109 will also be invited.
New Business: Richard and Neil moved that the club accept Tina
Strobel as a new member. She has an aircraft kept at CQA.
New officers were then nominated and voted upon. The officers
for 2013 will be: Todd Bills, President; Mike Schnell, Vice-President;
Tina Strobel, Secretary; Gene Will, Treasurer. Mike Schnell was
appointed chairman of Young Eagles with Neil Winget and Tina Strobel
as committee members.
It was decided to have a “snow pool” once there was snow on the
ground.
There being no further business, Neil and Gene moved the
meeting be adjourned. Treats brought by Todd, Richard and Ann were
enjoyed by all.

November 11, 2012


Todd Bills, President, called EAA Chapter 922 to order on November 11, 2 pm at AXV with six members (Richard Murray, Marc Hines, Neil Winget, Todd Bills, Ken Boyd and Gene Will) present along with two guests (Ann Vogel and Tina Strobel).

Minutes of the October meeting were read and approved.

Gene reported a balance of $214.26 in the treasury.

Old Business: Thanks were given to Ann for allowing members to check out last month the aviation parts and pieces for members to look over.

Plans were discussed for a winter dinner meeting. Neil made a suggestion that there is an aviation artist in Michigan that may be willing to come for expenses. Todd also suggested that he has a relative
that may be willing to come and talk. Another suggestion was made by Neil that we check out going to WPAFB and inviting other chapters to join us to help reduce the cost. Todd appointed Neil and Richard to
check out plans for the dinner meeting.

It was decided that officers for next year will be decided at the next meeting.

New Business: Gene asked if any members were interested in purchasing an EAA calendar. He will order a dozen. Project Reports: Todd has a hanger at CQA and has hanger insurance. Neil checked out the airplane he wants to buy and is still considering it. He showed the group pictures that he recently took. Gene
reported on his hunting trip to South Dakota.

Gene and Richard showed their GPS on computer.

Richard and Ken moved the meeting be adjourned.

October 14, 2012


EAA Chapter 922 met at the home of Ann Vogel with five
members (Gene Will, Jason Stehschulte, Neil Winget, Dick Murray, and
Mike Schnell) and one guest (Ann Vogel) present.

Mike Schnell, Vice-President, called the meeting to order. Gene
reported that the treasury balance of $214.26 was the same as last
month.

Under old business, members were reminded that officers will be
elected at the December meeting and they will take over in January.

Under new business, members discussed having a winter dinner
meeting in February. It was agreed to try for February 16, with
February 23 as a back up date. Neil will contact Don Schmerck from
Wapakoneta and ask if he would tell us some aviation stories. Final
plans will be made later.

Project reports: Neil and Dick told their Capella story. It was to be
delivered a coupe of weeks ago, when the engine had a serious problem.
Fortunally, no one was hurt, but Neil has no airplane! Dick reported that
some one bought his helicopter parts and pieces and that Ken Hunter
has his Myers for sale.

Since there was no further business, Neil and Gene moved the
meeting be adjourned. The rest of the afternoon was spent looking over
the aviation parts and pieces that Walt had collected and Ann was
offering them for sale to EAA members.

Mike Schnell, vice –president, called the meeting of Chapter 922 to order. There were seven members (Mike Schnell, Jason Stechschulte, Ken Boyd, Dick Murray, Gene Will, Marc Hines and Tom Fortman) and one guest (Ann Vogel) present.

Before the meeting, members had the opportunity to check out Ken’s project. He has moved it to AXV.

The minutes of the August meeting were approved. Gene gave a treasurer’s report of $214.26 in the treasury

Old Business: The Young Eagles event was discussed. It will be held on June 8, 2013. Further discussions will take place concerning this event.

New Business: The next meeting will be held at the Vogel residence. Ann is interested in selling some of the aviation tools, etc. to those interested.

Dues for the chapter will be collected in January. They are $25.00 a year.

Projects: It was announced that Neil purchased a Capella with a Rotax 912. Pictures can be seen on the chapter web page. Dick has purchased a Cessna 140A from Arkansas that needs help.

EAA Chapter 922 met August 12, 2012, at AXV with 8 members
( Gene Will, Marc Hines, Tom Fortman, Ken Boyd, Neil Winget, Jason
Stechschulte, Todd Bills and Rudy Schneidhorst) present. Also present
was one guest, Ann Vogel.

Todd Bills, president called the meeting to order. Minutes of the
previous meeting were read and approved. Gene Will reported a
balance of $214. 26 in the treasury.

Gene Will gave a report on the cookout that was held last week.
He reported that there were between 68 to 70 people in attendance.
That was the most that has ever attended. All had a nice time.
Suggestions were made concerning the picnic for next year.

Gene Will also reported that he and Mike Schnell flew 11 to 12
kids from the Neil Armstrong space camp on a Young Eagles flight last
Thursday. It was also decided to definitely do a Young Eagles event next
year in June.

Five members of our chapter went to Air Adventure in Oshkosh
this year. Members shared their experiences. Todd reported that he
took our local EAA patches to the Chapter Barn in Oshkosh where they
will be displayed. There was also discussion about getting medicals and
suggestions on where not to go.

Neil and Marc moved to adjourn the meeting.

President Todd Bills called the meeting of EAA Chapter 922 to order July 8, with eight members, Tom Fortman, Marc Hines, Todd Bills, Neil Winget, Richard Murray, Jason Stechschulte , Mike Schnell and Ken Boyd present.  Also present was one guest, Ann Vogel.
            Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.  Ann reported from Gene Will, treasurer, that there is a balance of $194.26 in the treasury. Gene also wanted to remind the members about the Chapter 109/922 cookout at his hanger on August 9.  Todd will bring pop and water again this year. A set up time will be announced later.
            Old Business:  It was announced that Dick Heiby was the winner of the “snow pool:  He will get $20 that Richard Murray will deliver to him.  The other $20 will go to Chapter 922 treasury.
            The Young Eagles event was discussed.  Mike will make plans with the director of the Space Camp concerning taking students for a flight.  The Young Eagle event for others will be held on Saturday, August 11. Articles will be in the newspaper (hopefully).

            New Business:  Todd read a thank you note from the family of Walt Vogel for the flowers that were sent.  A toast was given to Walt to his memory.
            It was also announced that John Bailey’s mother passed away.  Members signed a card to be sent to him.
            Members were told that a medical can now be taken at Sporty’s with minimum wait time.
            Ann agreed to continue as secretary until the end of the year when new officers will be elected.
            Plans were make among the members to attend Air Adventure at Oshkosh later this month.
            After eating snacks and discussions about other hanger talk, the meeting was adjourned.

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 by Vice President Mike Snell.

In attendance were Richard Murray, Ken Boyd, Neil Winget, Gene Will
Guests Ann Vogel

News on Walt he had a hemmoagic stroke that has affected both sides of his brain. Ann thinks the recovery will not be as fast as the last time. The doctor is not sure he is not still bleading. Visitors are welcome, but he is not respo.nsive.

Richard reported on the Findlay Air Rally and how he and Tina Strobel finished second on the course that took them from Findlay to Tiffin to Sandusky Regional to Gallion to Urbanna to Allen County and back to Findlay.

Kristen McKenna from Delaware, Ohio stopped by on her solo cross-country. We gave her an EAA922 decal. N2937S started up at 14:35 on her way back.

Mike is still  waiting on his airplane to get out of annual. The brakes are not fixed.

Mike spoke about the Young Eagles flights this year and the first weekend of August is what we are talking about. The objective to fly the space cadets the evenings of the 6th through the 10th and then offer the general public the morning of the 11th.

Stories of flying to Oshkosh ensued and whether you should fly across the lake or not. Ken reported he found some pictures of two girls who were selling an Italian made aircraft and perhaps more.

Gene reported a balance of  $194.26 in the checking account.

The subject of the snow pool came up and Mike announced that Sean had determined the date. A call to Sean should be made to get the official date there was no snow on the airport. There is $40 in the snow pool.

Gene wanted to solicit help with the cookout he wants to host again this August.

The meeting was called to order by President Todd Bills after all in attendance concluded Walt and his trusty scribe (aka Ann) were not going to make.

Those in attendance in addition to Todd were Marc, Mike, Jason, Ken, Neil, and Richard.

Todd read the minutes posted from the April meeting.

No treasurer's report due to the absence of the treasurer.

Old Business:
The determination of the snow pool winner was deferred until next month.

New Business:
Mike reported National Young Eagles Day was planned for June 9th. He said the Armstrong Air & Space Museum would like to have paritcipants in their Space Camp flown. It was decided to try to fly the Space Camp participants the week of August 6th through the 10th and have an area wide event on Saturday, August 11th.

Neil reported he is entering part-time retirement and hopefully will be fully retired a month or two after transitioning the bureau to Toledo.

Richard reported Walt was covering the wings on his belite with Ann reading the instructions from the manual.

Dick Heiby texted in that he lost his RC model at Bundge Park and would not be here.

Neil show the leather jacket he scored for ten dollars at the Bluffton Antique Mall. He did good!

Todd had to leave for a soccer game and relinquished the chair to Vice President Mike.

Richard reported on an aircraft auction held at the Geauga County airport on Saturday. Thirteen great planes commanding 1.6 million dollars.

Ken reported he ordered his paint for the RV-9 and invited all in attendance to come over to the hanger after the meeting.

Todd Bills, president, called EAA chapter 922 to order at 2pm.  There were seven members (Todd Bills, Neil Winget, Tom Fortman, Ken Boyd, Jason Stechschulte, Gene Will and Walt Vogel) and one guest (Ann Vogel) present.  Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.  The treasurer gave no report.

Old Business:  Todd Bills had patches and decals for sale.  The patches are $3.00 a piece and decals are $2.00 each.  They are available for purchase.  Check with Todd.  Next month the “snow pool” will try to get figured out.

New Business:  There was no new business that was brought forth.

Project Reports:  It was reported that Richard Murray has purchased plans for a CX4 and he is considering getting his A & P license.  Ken is close to ordering the paint for his project.  Walt expects the paint to be delivered tomorrow.

All enjoyed delicious chocolate covered pretzels brought by Todd.

There was no further business.  Todd adjourned the meeting.

EAA Chapter 922 met at the home of EAA member Walt Vogel.  There were 6 members (Marc Hines, Richard Murray, Ken Boyd, Jason Stechschulte, Neil Winget and Walt Vogel) and one guest (Ann Vogel).  Marc Hines was appointed to be chairman for the day. 

            The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.  No treasurer’s report was given.

            Old Business: There was no report or update on the patches. The decals might also want to be checked out again. Also the Young Eagles was not discussed since Mike Schnell was not in attendance.  It was reported that there were 9 members and 10 guests present at the dinner meeting.  Thanks were given to the acting secretary for making the arrangements.  It was decided to have a winter dinner meeting again next year.

            New Business:  It was decided to have the April meeting on April 15 due to Easter being on the regular meeting date. 

            Walt and Richard moved that the meeting me adjourned.

            After the meeting Walt brought the members up to date on the progress of his Belite. He mentioned that some of the parts are slow in coming!  The group adjourned to the pole barn and inspected the project that Walt is working on.  After that, members went to the house where there was a DVD for their showing.  Young soldiers took this DVD during World War II with pictures in England and possibly Florida. The DVD was given to Neil by Warren Bates.  It was very interesting – real history – not Hollywood!
           
            Cookies and candy were enjoyed thanks to Marc and Ann.

EAA Chapter 922 met Sunday, February 12, 2:00 pm at AXV. Todd Bills, president, welcomed nine members ( Walt Vogel, Neil Winget, Marc Hines, Richard Murray, Mike Schnell, Gene Will, John Bailey, Todd Bills and Ken Boyd) and two guests( Ann Vogel and Jason Stechschulte) .

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.  Gene Will, treasurer, reported a balance of $419.26 in the treasury.

Old Business:  Todd showed us a design of the patches.  This is one of the patches was approved by the EAA.  Neil moved that we go ahead with the patch design as was presented today.  Mike seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
The upcoming winter dinner meeting was discussed.  Members were reminded that the dinner meeting would be held February 25, 6 pm, at CJ High Marks in Celina. Members will order from the menu each paying for their own meal.  Ann will send out an email reminder to each member about the week before.  It was decided to ask the Neil Armstrong Museum director to come and give updates on what happening at the museum.  It was also decided to ask Sean Stroh and wife to attend also. John moved that we pay for the meals of our invited guests.  Neil seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

New Business:  Mike brought up possible dates for the Young Eagles event to take place this June. The dates suggested were June 16 and June 23.  A definite date will be decided at the next meeting.
Todd had the membership forms from the national EAA chapter.  They were filled out and checks were written for a total of $275.
Richard announced that the web page has been changed.  Members were encouraged to look at the library section and the safety quizzes.
Project reports were given. Ken is about ready to paint his airplane.  Walt’s project almost looks like an airplane now.  The group decided to go to Walt’s for the next meeting to view his project.  It was also announced that CQA is renting a C152 for $55 an hour, dry.

Richard and Mike moved that the meeting be adjourned.

EAA Chapter met January 8, 2012 , at 2:00 pm at AXV. Nine members ( Ken Boyd, Gene Will, Todd Bills, Mike Schnell, Richard Murray, Tom Fortman, Marc Hines, Neil Winget, and Walt Vogel ) were in attendance as well as two guests ( Ann Vogel and Marty Bevill). 

President Todd Bills called the meeting to order and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. 

Gene Will gave the treasurer’s report of $344.26. There were some members that paid their dues.

Old Business: 
Ann reported that she made reservations for the Banquet Room at CJ High Marks for February 25, at 6 pm. When the time gets closer, an accurate count would be appreciated. 

Todd reported that EMB does not do patches,  some more information will come at the next meeting.

New Business: 
Todd also had received the packet from EAA to renew membership. That will be completed at the next meeting. The main reason for keeping up the membership to the national EAA is for the Young Eagles event. The insurance will be approximately $250 this year.
Project Reports: 

Ken reported that his project needs to be painted. 

Richard brought a piece from an aircraft showing how not to do rivets. 

Richard also announced that there was an interesting Webinar about magnetos . He will put the link on the web page. 

Mike told us of his experience of visiting a WACO factory in Michigan. It was also announced that the J-3’s are celebrating their 75th anniversary and there will be some given away at Oshkosh this summer. 

Marty shared a letter he had received from his son, Chase from basic training in Texas.

After other useful airplane chatter, the meeting was adjourned by Neil and Ken.
