EAA 922 members met Sunday, August 10 at AXV. Members
present were: Gene Will, Ken Boyd, Neil Winget and Marc Hines. Also
in attendance was Ann Vogel, guest.
Marc Hines, Vice-President presided over the meeting. Gene
reported a balance of $164.76 in the treasury.
The recent Young Eagles from the Space Camp event was
discussed. Some suggestions were made to think about in future years:
only take new-time fliers; only take so many kids; only take ages 8 -17
year old kids. Some of the students that got a ride this year had been up
in a small aircraft for as many of three times. Of course it would help if
there were more pilots available.
The August cookout was discussed. Gene has issued the
invitations. This year Gene has ordered baked beans and coleslaw along
with the meat, etc. Members are asked to bring a covered dish (not
beans or slaw). Members will also help Gene with the expenses. Bring
lawn chairs. Set up will be Wednesday evening around 6 pm. Bring any
extra tables you have at that time. This year it will be a “Wings and
Wheels” event. Show off your aircraft and or your classic or fancy car.
This is the 15th year for this popular event.
Neil showed a video of his son Para-Gliding in Europe.

Mike called the meeting to order at 1:57PM
Jon reported he left the Young Eagle forms in the office and they haven't been sent in yet. No definite number could be ascertained.
Thank yous were sent to Ralph and Gary for flying and Russ Hovey for his generous donation of fuel.
There were a number of people who were adult and wanted rides. Aparentkly the advertising did not make this clear.
We are earning credits giving Young Eagle rides and using them for the academy at Oshkosh. The WACO museum wants to use our credits if we aren't using them. We are going to wait and see.
Ken handed out paperwork for the WWI fly-in. Discussion followed.
WACO fly-in is two weeks before the WWI fly-in.
Mike went to AOIH to do some grass landings and there was an X on the grass.
Neil wanted to go to OSH and is looking for someone to go. They wanted to do three days. His travel partner has started chemo treatment and is doubtful he will make the trip.
Mike's WACO returned the day after Young Eagles.
Todd is going to check out in Mike's Cherokee 180.
EAA wants to start some type of interactive roster tool. The E-news had an excellent article about tying down aircraft.
Ken invited everyone to stop out and look at his plane which is all painted and ready to be assembled.
Todd took his daughter to the Dayton Airshow and really liked the Blue Angles and the Fat Albert demonstration.
Bungee Park had the large scale models flying yesterday at the RC club. Gene mentioned an F4U Corsair was particularly appealing.
Mike mentioned the Armstrong Air and Space Museum would also like to have the space camp participants be given air rides in August.
Mike mentioned there is a flight program for adults the EAA is sponsoring.

Mike reconvened a meeting to permit Gene to speak about the annual dinner. He mentioned the date as August 14 and that something needed to be done about insuring a balanced meal was provided. His suggestion to pick up beans and coleslaw for the antici[ated guests with everyone contributing to the cost. He will provide the brats and hamburgers, Todd volunteered to provide the drinks.

Old Business - Ken reaffirmed the dates for the group tour this year - the last Sarurday in September
Mike's WACO is still in Michigan, supposedly finished and now planning on going up next week. It took seven weeks to get the fuel pumps recalibrated.

Mike visited the Air Force Museum on the anniversary of D-Day and recommends the museum as a place to visit.
Ken got his wings on the plane and they are ready for paint.

Our meeting was called to order at 2:10 PM

Old business included a review of the aircraft to participate in the Young Eagles event on June 14.

A discussion about how to handle walk-in registration followed. It was a consensus that walk-in people would be handled if time permits after pre-registered people are flown.
Mike asked about who will handle ground support. Neil is one. Is Dick Heiby available? Will Marc be a helper? Ken is going to be two. Ann Vogel is helping Jon
New business - none - Ken confirmed Sep 27 is the date for this years outing to the WWI re-enactment at the Museum of the Air Force. Details are being developed.
Mike is going the 3, 4, and 5th of April 2015 to New Zealand for an Air Show and if WACO Classic doesn't get their act together, sadly he will not be flying his dream plane before then.

In AXV news, Marty Bevill has flown his Bonansa west to California and sold the Tomahawk to Brent Richter. Paul LeBlond is going to re-instate his CFI and do instruction until Brent gets his licenses. The hangars at AXV are still full with two TBM's and a couple of Cirrus on the field.

Richard texted he was ill and not going to make the meeting

"I will be out of town this weekend and unfortunately miss the meeting. Treasurer’s report is checking acct balance of $139.76. As mentioned earlier, last crystals of snow at AXV melted Sat AM, April 5th…have a dated pic if needed by the “audit committee”"
Neil called Richard on Saturday and reported he had the TV scheduled for the week before the Young Eagles event.
For Young Eagles Day on June 14, we have the following pilots and planes committed so far:
Gene Will (Bonanza), Mike Schnell (Cherokee and Waco), Brent Richter (Arrow), Todd Bills (Cessna 150), Dick Murray (pilot for Mike's Cherokee or other aircraft). We will continue to solicit help from nearby chapters who may like to assist.
Insurance coverage from the National organization has been secured.
Printed materials have been ordered from Oshkosh and will arrive in about two weeks. These materials include promotional brochures, registration forms, Flight Certificates, and log books.
We will rely on Dick Murray to get the reservation website up and running. John Bailey has agreed to manage the registration process at the event.
PROGRAM CHAIRMAN Ken Boyd suggested that we plan to attend the WW 1 air event at Wright Patterson AFB as a Chapter activity in September. The membership expressed a desire to pursue this activity, so Ken will get details and we will plan to attend.
By Executive order, Mike set the next two meetings for May 18 at 2:00 pm and June 14 before the Young Eagles event.
Todd Bills and Ken Boyd shared progress reports on their aircraft. Ken is hoping to have his wings hung in time to use his RV for our static display aircraft at Young Eagles Day.

Our regular monthly meeting was called to order at 2:01 PM.
Present were Mike Schnell, Jon Bailey, Neil Winget, Ken Boyd, Marc Hines, Gene Will, Richard Murray
and guest Ann Vogel
Old business prompted a discussion about the upcoming Young Eagles event planned for June 14. We are three months out. Neil announced he will have a noon spot on the TV show. We should plan on one hundred riders for the event. The following Saturday would be the rain date and we should notify EAA to get insurance coverage and on their calendar.
Break: Todd stopped and picked up MIKE'S gps to use on his forthcoming trip to Arizona.
Neil discovered errors in flyer and is going to correct them. Mike will register the event with EAA. Jon will get talent lined up for TV time. Mike will fly his WACO and needs a Cherokee pilot to fly his 180. Pre-registration needs to be defined so we can plan on how many riders to accept.
In other business Mike went to an open house at the WACO museum in Troy and found out they have a camp-out at the end of April for the Boy Scouts to earn their merit badge. Anyone interested in volunteering?
Program Chairman Ken read a list of sites he compiled in just Ohio that we might want to visit. Gene suggested we create a calendar to keep track of everything we are doing or going to do. There is the Cookout in August, the MSRFI at Urbana in September, the WACO fly-in in September, and the WWI event at the Museum of the Air Force in Dayton. It was discussed and the WWI event might be the group activity we want to start with this year. Richard will establish a calendar on the website.
Neil told that Neil Armstrong had the test facility named after him and that it was fitting men named Neil should be so honored, especially since Neil Armstrong had landed there so much. Ann Vogel concurred the it was fitting to name landing sites after men named Neil. Armstrong has a site at Edwards Air Force Base in California and Winget has a cornfield in Ohio. (boy we miss her)
Neil tells the boy story. His son's turn signal bulb was out and they needed to replace it. After church Neil drives buy AutoZone and they can replace bulb for his son. Neil wakes son up up and he doesn't want to do it. Neil says you and comes to meeting. Wife txt Neil that boy is getting bulb changed. And there was piece once again in the valley.
Gene reported the treasury stands at $139.76 including the $30.00 contributed for the snow pool, which looks like the Chapter is going to win if things don't start warming up.

Meeting called to order 2:06 PM by President Mike Schnell.
Gene paid the EAA our annual assessment and there is $9.00 left in the treasury. He collected dues from those who had not paid and $20 from last month's snow pool contribution. See the snow pool tab for this year's participants. The snow pool is at $30.00.
Jon Bailey brought with him all of the registration sheets from the 2013 Young Eagles event which needed to be signed by the respective pilots.
Tina resigned her co-chairmanship with Neil because of her move to Georgia. Regrettably this will be her last meeting with our chapter.
Todd was selected to co-chair the event with Neil and Todd will be in charge of getting pilots lined up.
The subject of having reservations was brought up and it was decided to have the event open and we would fly any who came.
Neil wanted to know if there was any video taken of last year's event. It is not certain if Channel 35 has any of the footage they shot or not.
Neil moved and Todd seconded to have our Young Eagles event this year on the second Sunday of June, the same date as the national organization. Motion Carried
Todd is looking for a portable GPS for his trip to Arizona. Discussion followed on what portable app he should look at.
Todd was seeking input on his trip planning and brought his sectionals
Mike raised the subject of a program for each meeting. Discussion followed and
Ken Boyd volunteered to be the program chairman.
Fly-outs were mentioned as an activity, Reese airport in Muncie and the RC field were suggested as a destination.
